Participate in Scientific Discovery
The greatest obstacle in understanding rare genetic disorders is collecting the data itself.
● DATA COLLECTION
HUWE1 Databases
● DATABASE LIBRARY
Data are essential to advancing HUWE1 research. Families can contribute through patient registries and research platforms—helping build the information researchers need to better study HUWE1-related disorders and drive development of future treatments.

-
The HUWE1 Foundation Family Registry is a private database that helps us connect with individuals and families affected by HUWE1-related disorders. By joining, you help us build a more complete picture of our global community and make it easier to share important updates, resources, events, and opportunities to get involved.
-
Joining the Family Registry helps strengthen the HUWE1 community and ensures you stay connected with the Foundation. It also helps us understand where families are located, identify community needs, and share relevant research developments and opportunities to participate.
-
The Family Registry collects basic information about you and your family, such as contact details, location, and your connection to someone with a HUWE1-related disorder. Unlike a scientific research registry, it is not intended to collect detailed medical histories or track symptoms over time.
-
The HUWE1 Foundation Family Registry helps us stay connected with families and communicate about Foundation activities and opportunities. RareX is a research data platform that collects detailed health information to help scientists better understand HUWE1-related disorders. We encourage families to participate in both, as they serve different but complementary purposes.
-
The information you share helps the HUWE1 Foundation stay connected with your family, provide updates, and share relevant resources and opportunities. Your information is used for Foundation outreach and community engagement, not scientific research. We take your privacy seriously and aim to limit access to authorized team members. We will not share your personal information with researchers or outside organizations without your permission.

HUWE1 × RARE-X
Help advance HUWE1 research by sharing valuable health information that can deepen our understanding of HUWE1-related disorders and support the development of future treatments.
-
RARE-X is a nonprofit organization that helps rare disease communities collect and share health information for scientific research. Through its secure data collection platform, families can contribute information about their experiences with HUWE1-related disorders. This information helps researchers better understand these conditions and supports the development of future treatments.
-
Every person's experience with HUWE1 can contribute to a better understanding of the disorder. By participating in RARE-X, you help researchers learn more about symptoms, development, and how HUWE1-related disorders change over time. This information can help identify research priorities, support future clinical studies, and accelerate progress toward effective treatments.
-
RARE-X collects information about an individual's health, development, symptoms, and medical history through online questionnaires. Families may also be asked to provide updates over time, helping researchers understand how HUWE1-related disorders change throughout a person's life. Participation is voluntary, and families can choose how much information to contribute.
-
The HUWE1 Foundation Family Registry is our internal database for staying connected with families, sharing updates, and building our community. RARE-X is a scientific research platform that collects detailed health information to help researchers study HUWE1-related disorders. We encourage families to participate in both because they serve different but complementary purposes.
-
RARE-X collects health information to support research into HUWE1-related disorders and other rare diseases. Personal identifying information is kept separate from research data, and information shared with researchers is coded to help protect participants' identities. Families can review the consent information and choose how their data may be used and shared.
COMBINED Brain
Coming soon! Help advance HUWE1 research by participating in opportunities to contribute biological samples that will support scientific discovery and the development of future treatments.
COMING SOON
3.
-
COMBINEDBrain is a nonprofit organization that supports research into rare neurodevelopmental disorders by connecting patient communities, researchers, and scientific resources. The HUWE1 Foundation plans to work with COMBINEDBrain to expand opportunities for families to contribute biological samples that can be used to study HUWE1-related disorders.
-
Biological samples give researchers an opportunity to study HUWE1-related disorders at the cellular and molecular level. By contributing samples, families can help scientists investigate how HUWE1 variants affect the body, develop laboratory models, and explore potential approaches to treatment. Every contribution can help build valuable resources for future research.
-
Participation may involve providing biological samples, such as blood or other materials, that researchers can use to study HUWE1-related disorders. Specific sample types, collection procedures, and eligibility requirements will be shared once the program becomes available.
-
Biological samples collected through future research opportunities may be used by qualified researchers to better understand HUWE1-related disorders and investigate potential treatments. Before participating, families will receive information about how samples will be collected, stored, used, and shared, along with any applicable consent requirements. Additional details will be available when enrollment opens.
